  • Artemisia Californica (California Sagebrush)

This California native plant contains over 200 plant compounds that have multiple benefits including pain management, anti-inflammation, anti-bacterial, and insect repellency. Native American Indians used California sagebrush to address various ailments including backaches, arthritis, and muscular strains. Coastal sage scrub is an important member of many chaparral and coastal plant communities. Ramble through the hills and you will smell like the "outdoors" - the term 'Cowboy Cologne' comes to mind.

  • Boswellia Sacra (Frankincense)

The main active ingredients of frankincense are alpha- and beta-boswellic acid and some other pentacyclic triterpenic acids. Studies have shown that these compounds reduce inflammation. Frankincense’s anti-inflammatory effects may help reduce symptoms of osteoarthritis and possibly rheumatoid arthritis. Frankincense, along with myrrh, has been prescribed in traditional Chinese medicine and administered for treatment of blood stagnation and inflammation diseases in addition to pain relief and swelling. Frankincense has been used to manage pain associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), rheumatism, bursitis, and tendonitis.

  • Salvia Apiana (White Sage)

Two primary active compounds are found in white sage, terpenoids and sesquiterpenes, both of which have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Certain terpenoids may temporarily relieve pain by dampening pain signals to the brain and also reduce the body’s production of inflammatory chemicals that lead to swelling and pain. Sesquiterpenes specifically also have an effect on our emotional center in the hypothalamus, helping us remain calm and balanced.

  • Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil

Rich in fatty acids and a good source of vitamins A and E, which are linked to skin membrane health. Also contains potassium, lecithin, and many other nutrients that can nourish and moisturize the skin. The outermost layer of skin, known as the epidermis, easily absorbs these nutrients, which also help to form new skin. Studies also report that a combination of avocado and soybean oil extracts may relieve pain in those with hip and knee osteoarthritis.

  • Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry Seed) Oil

Antioxidant and moisturizing. Raspberry seed oil is packed with carotenoids (a plant-derived source of Vitamins A and E) - vitamins essential for the maintenance and repair of skin cells. Raspberry seed oil is a very lightweight and gentle moisturizing solution, able to soften the skin as well as reduce skin irritations (itching, swelling, redness). Considered non-comedogenic, it does not clog pores and encourages natural water retention in the cells by creating a lipid barrier that helps skin retain its natural moisture. This helps give a more youthful appearance and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Santalum Spicatum (Sandalwood Nut) Oil

Contains ximenynic acid (one of the powerful anti-inflammatory agents found in nature). Soothes joint pain, bruises, cuts, burns, cystic acne & inflammatory skin issues.

Researchers from Ruhr-Universität Bochum in Germany found that skin cells contain olfactory receptors for sandalwood. When they activated those receptors, it appeared to promote skin cell growth.

A study reported in the Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics suggests a compound found in sandalwood oil may help fight skin cancer. That compound is called α-santalol. Some studies have shown that this component can help promote cell death of cancerous cells.

  • Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil

Valued for its skin healing and emollient properties, jojoba oil is a humectant (attracts water to the top layer of the skin) helping to keep the skin hydrated.

High in wax esters, which works very similarly to our skin’s own natural sebum; jojoba oil enhances our skin’s moisture barrier and softens the skin. Contains high levels of vitamin E and is an antioxidant, both of which may help soothe skin/wound healing and prevent scars. Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) and hypoallergenic.
